The primary responsibility of the technical editor is to make sure the training material and content is technically accurate with no errors in the text or in any non-text elements (for example, illustrations and tables).
Editors should be dedicated to making the training material technically competent in addition to technically accurate. A technically competent training module's is one that does not cause the reader to stumble or to seek other references for the information that is supposed to be in the presentations.
Advise program managers on all aspects of written presentation, to include: structure, organization, argument, tables and graphs, and matters of non-technical document content
Finalizes the development and editorial of training material in production policies, procedures, and guidelines as appropriate for the program
The editor is responsible for tracking the development of individual studies and for timely interaction with managers to sustain and manage the editorial work flow
Supports the Training Manager and Technical Trainers/Writers in their effort to ensure timely delivery of high-quality written products
Provide staff members with informal coaching and formal training in writing, editing, and desktop publishing as needed
Four year degree or equivalent experience
Degreed with 5 to 7 years of professional experience as an editor/writer
Excellent written and oral communication skills and a strong client orientation
High-level writing skills; an ability to convey complex ideas in a clear, direct, and lively style
Demonstrated organizational skills and abilities in time management and negotiation with writers and trainers
Experience with writing material on evaluation/technical subjects
Medicare, state Medicaid /CHIP regulations or Health Plan enrollment experience preferred
Health Care claims experience preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to respond to the needs of outside contacts, including but not limited to: CMS, OMEA, appellants, and clients
Ability to learn CMS processing system features and files
Working knowledge and use of PC, claim adjudication, MS Word and Excel software, and appeals system software
